Kim Barker’s career started on Wall Street, working at JP Morgan in private asset management and private equity for over 15 years. Moving from New York and Chicago to a small mountain town in Colorado, she got involved in the early days of medical cannabis in Colorado. The first venture was in cultivation and then opening dispensaries; eventually transitioning to the adult use market. With the combination of private equity and cannabis, Kim began consulting in all area of the cannabis world. From putting together investors and manufacturers and cultivators to developing lighting and extraction plans, and bringing brands to market, she has worked in all area of the cannabis space over the past 9 years. Now here in California, and the onset of new regulations to transition to the regulated adult use market, she is the Director of Sales at Pacific Shield Distribution. Her goal at Pacific Shield is to be a trusted source of information to the brands they represent, supporting them and helping them achieve the desired level of sales and market penetration. Together with her team, she aims to provide retailers with a seasoned market perspective to support increased sales, consumer and employee education, and innovative programs designed to support retailers at every level.
